About Your Instructor
Randall Jason Irvin is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia who has worked in a variety of mediums, most recently focusing his acrylic work on texture and abstraction. Jason started his artistic education at Atlanta College of Art, leaving his sophomore year for Athens, GA to form Vibeulator, a musical venture that led to writing, collaborating, and performing in the vibrant Athens music scene for several years. During this time Jason was also perfecting his culinary skills at the highly esteemed vegetarian restaurant “The Grit”, where he rose to head chef and crafted innovative vegetarian dishes with his signature southern artistic flare. Jason then redirected his creative energy back into painting, exploring and discovering his medium and style. Jason was the featured artist in the monthly publication “The Flagpole” and regularly exhibited work at galleries and businesses around Athens. Most notable is his work in acrylics using a method he describes as “masking”. Jason moved back to Atlanta in 2010 and purchased a loft in the Castleberry Hills Art District in Atlanta, continuing to paint and stay connected to Atlanta’s art scene, while focusing full time on starting his own small business using his skills as a licensed plumber. It was there Jason met his partner Nell, and they have recently relocated to Maine with their son Hawthorne.
