Partying at the Art Loft

Jewelry Making Art Party at the Art Loft

Our first Art Party was a huge success! We had a wonderful turnout and everyone had a relaxing afternoon making jewelry and making friends.

Karen Olson brought her bead stash to share and each person went home with a few pairs of earring to wear or give as gifts. Karen promised she would do another free class in the early spring! We can’t wait!!

But if you can’t wait until spring, she will be teaching a class in metalwork in January. Click here to sign up.

There will be a free art party at the Art Loft every month, each with a different instructor and theme. In January, it will be Melissa Kelly with ‘Reviving Creativity.’ Check it out here.

See you there!

Art Party – Get Ready for Spring Gardening

Are you ready for spring? Can’t wait to get your hands in the dirt? Then this, the last Art Loft Art Party of the season, is for you!

Gardening and art are intertwined. Some of us grow for food, others grow for flowers to paint or just bring in the house. We look to the garden for inspiration and strive to make our surroundings, big or small, a sanctuary from the daily cares of the world.

Hilary Mank, aka Everlongardener, garden blogger and master gardener, will discuss solutions to garden problems, benefits of raised beds, no-dig, and intensive gardening. She will teach us the value of garden planning and keeping records. Hilary will be available to discuss the personal challenges that you face with your garden and offer solutions.

Pollinators are extremely valuable in the landscape, we will also talk about how to design a garden with pollinators in mind, specifically mason bees.

In addition to our informative discussion, we will create a bee-utiful copper and leather bookmark, perfect for your 2017 garden journal.

Artist Statement:The

Did you ever have so many crazy crafty ideas you could never center on just one? I know the feeling! I have half finished projects all over the place. But gardening, that’s something I manage to get done, start to finish!

I believe that anyone can garden! This doesn’t have to be hard. Sure, you’ll have to work for it, but the concepts don’t need to be complicated. Whether you are a city dweller, rural inhabitant or somewhere in between, you can do this!

I’m Hilary and I live in Midcoast Maine with my husband and 4-year-old son on ten rocky acres. I love gardening, art, chickens, rabbits, cooking, casual power-walking and snowshoeing. I have been wintering over salad greens since 2010 and working as a professional gardener since 2000.
