Our Mission

The mission of the Knox County Art Society (KCAS) is to support visual artists of all ages by creating face-to-face opportunities for learning, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas, resources, and skills. We promote and provide group opportunities in drawing, painting, sculpture, and other media convenient for visual artists who live, work, and play in Knox County, neighboring towns, and Monhegan. It is open to all visual artists, without geographic or artistic limitations.

The Downtown Art Studio is a community art center that makes art accessible to everyone, no matter their ability, age, or income. It is also the home of the Knox County Art Society (KCAS).

We are located at 385 Main Street in Rockland. We are in suite #9 inside the Thorndike Building, conveniently located in the heart of the Rockland arts center.

Although there are many galleries, museums and art centers in Rockland, the Downtown Art Studio fills a different need. We are a place to create, connect with other artists face-to-face, to learn, and exhibit art. We are also the home of the Knox County Art Society.
