Our March Art Party introduces Elliot Bryant as a new instructor here at The Art Loft. Elliot graduated with a BFA in Fine Art from Corcoran College of Art + Design. He works in a wide variety of mixed media and sculptural mediums; from woodcarving to fur and leather sewing, paper constructions to ceramics, metalworking to bread working.
Elliot will teach us plaster casting. In this class, we’ll take the items we have collected and make dynamic compositions using their impressions in clay and then cast them with plaster of Paris to make a solid cohesive piece. Bring along whatever you might have around the house, a bunch of quirky knick-knacks or a collection of old plumbing supplies, we will make a small bas-relief sculpture with them.
This class is going to be way cool!
You might want to register in advance for this one. At the very least come early, it’s going to fill up fast!!
About your instructor – Elliot Bryant
Elliot Bryant is an artist from Thomaston, Maine. He received his Bachelors in Fine Art from Corcoran College of Art + Design in 2012. There he worked with all sorts of materials; from fur to flour, steel to stitches, wood carving to wire forms. He is interested in the unique visual characteristics of different materials and using the poetry of their properties towards an artwork’s message. He also enjoys the challenges of just getting disparate elements to stick together. He has previously co-taught courses in sculpture, drawing, woodworking and painting to adults and adolescents.
