Join Hilary Mank, garden blogger at Everlongardener.com, Maine Master Gardener, and four season grower for a completely hands-on garden art class. Come to learn and create!
One of the great challenges of gardening these days is getting enough pollinators into the gardens to do their job. Beekeeping is out of reach for many of us. In this class, we will learn about attracting native bees to our gardens.
In this garden art class, we will be learning about mason bees, types of mason bees and their lifecycle. We will learn what they need and how to keep them buzzing around our gardens and suggestions for planting for the bees.
We will make mason bee houses together out of recycled and natural materials. The product will be a whimsical, earthy habitat for our native pollinators. Each participant will get to make and bring home at least two mason bee houses to strategically place in their home gardens.
About your instructor: Hilary Mank
Did you ever have so many crazy crafty ideas you could never center on just one? I know the feeling! I have half finished projects all over the place. But gardening, that’s something I manage to get done, start to finish!
I believe that anyone can garden! This doesn’t have to be hard. Sure, you’ll have to work for it, but the concepts don’t need to be complicated. Whether you are a city dweller, rural inhabitant or somewhere in between, you can do this!
I’m Hilary and I live in Midcoast Maine with my husband and 4-year-old son on ten rocky acres. I love gardening, art, chickens, rabbits, cooking, casual power-walking and snowshoeing. I have been wintering over salad greens since 2010 and working as a professional gardener since 2000.
