Composition and Drawing – Creating an Oddities Still Life
September 30, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm -
Have you got some interesting objects hanging around that would make a compelling composition? Or are you interested in working on a still life that breaks the mold away from flowers and fruit? Please join us for this three-hour workshop, where we will create fun, interesting, and psychological drawings using various oddities – everything from thrift store found knick-knacks, to natural articles such as bones, seashells, and foliage, to everyday household items. Many objects will be available for students to utilize for their individual compositions, but you are also encouraged to bring in whatever you’d like to draw!
All materials will be provided.
About Your Instructor – Aubrey Merritt
Aubrey Merritt is a relative newcomer to Maine. She is inspired by the state’s ghostly fog, bountiful wildflowers, and old hillside cemeteries, as well as the pure and lonely wilderness blanketing the northern woods. She studied fine arts with a concentration in drawing and painting at the Oregon College of Art and Craft, in Portland, Oregon. She has participated and won awards in various juried art shows, and has had work selected and shown in galleries. Her love of being a “maker” is something she is excited to share with others.
