We will make our own textures for just such a purpose, photograph them, and learn how the various blending modes work to transform our images. It’s an exciting way to get creative with everyday imagery!

Bring your laptop with Photoshop Elements, an early version of Photoshop or the Adobe creative cloud photography suite. And, of course, some of your own photos.

This class is all about creativity and learning how to compose interesting photos. Don’t let your limited knowledge of camera settings and exposure techniques scare you off from improving the look of your photos. Attend this fun class to be inspired and practice shooting objects in a fresh new way. Class time will include a short lecture, some fun exercises and time for discussion. Please be sure to bring along a camera (phones are perfectly OK).

About the Artist – Paula Apro

Paula Apro - The Art LoftPaula has been shooting professionally for over a decade. She has trained her eye to see things with a new unique perspective and uses her camera as a form of her creative expression. Through the magic of her camera, she manipulates light and color to result in surreal abstract images that look more like paintings than photography. See some of her work at www.paulaapro.com.

Learn Camera Settings the Easy Way

This class is a drop-in class: free to members and $20 for non-members.

Do you shoot in Manual Mode?

Most of us are so afraid to try to use manual mode, our camera is set permanently on auto mode. Many photographers say one should ONLY shoot in manual mode and scoff at those who don’t. You can get some pretty great shots with our high tech cameras these days, so why bother?

Manual Mode is Where the Art Is

Manual mode allows YOU to be the boss! With it, you can realize your vision and create artful and meaningful work.

Every camera is different – so before we get started, find a tutorial on Youtube by typing your camera model in the search bar. Learn how to physically change the settings for your particular camera and practice changing them. When you come to class we will help you balance the three camera settings, ISO, F-stop, and Shutter Speed, for the type of photography you want to shoot.

Are you ready? Let’s get started!

This class is a drop-in class: free to members and $20 for non-members.
